Mine is a bit wibbly wobbly.. and is not looking that great...
I found THIS though.. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
But there’s no leather gaiter in mine, just some sort of rubber.. Perhaps it’s the same.. who knows..

I drove a 9000 CSE once! One of the most exciting cars I’ve ever driven, but the shifter was the vaguest thing I’ve ever experienced! There was essentially zero sensation connected with to the act of slotting the thing into gear. It felt like I was stirring soup

My 9000 CD is quite “sharp” when it comes to shifting, it’s just that the fucking knob is loose :P
Sure, it’s no Ferrari.. but it’s better than a C4 Corvette at least :P

Pull like hell. The knob is clipped onto a plastic carrier underneath, which must be destroyed to install a new knob.

Yeah, I figured.. not sure I feel comfortable chopping bits of my car to pieces though :P

Gaiter procedure is identical. Leather boot and rubber boot both stretch over a flange around the shifter.

Wasn’t here just an article about how to remove shifter knobs on the FP? Call that girl.
